What happens at an Aistralia Needs Skills Expo?
Skilled workers attending an Australia skills expo can:
- meet Australian employers who are looking for certain skills for their organisations
- talk to Australian state and territory governments who want to sponsor skilled workers
- find out more about the different types of Australia visas
- attend presentations on topics, such as visa options, the visa application process, and information about living and working in the various states and territories of Australia.
When and where are the Australia Skills Expos?
The next Australia Needs Skills expo will be held in London 27 to 28 June 2009.
Who should apply to attend an expo?
Skilled workers who meet the following requirements:
- those under 45 years of age
- possess a good command of English
- those interested in living and working in Australia
- those who will be visiting or living near the location of the expo and will not require a visa to be issued for the sole purpose of attending the expo
- have qualifications and/or work experience for an occupation on the Critical Skills List. If your occupation is on the Employer Nomination Scheme Occupation List (ENSOL), you may also apply. Visit www.immi.gov.au/skillexpos/overseas.htm
Do I need to register to attend?
Yes. Please register to attend Australia Needs Skills Expos. Attendance is by invitation only.
What happens after I have registered?
List of invitees chosen for the Australia expo is determined by the occupations in high demand across Australia as well as the occupations needed by participating exhibitors. If you have the skills, experience and qualifications needed by the participating exhibitors you may be invited to attend. However, if there are no exhibitors attending the expo who are looking for your skills, you will not be invited.
